Waste Classification Publicity

To raise the DRC tenants’ awareness in waste classification, this Office organized a publicity event at the Function Room of the Liangmaqiao Diplomatic Office Building on the morning of 21 April, together with the Embassy Zone Waste Removal Office, which was participated in by some 300 people, including senior officials from the HSC, Municipal Administration, Chaoyang District, Maizidian Neighborhood, Xiushui Community of Jianwai Neighborhood and Xiangheyuan Neighborhood as well as representatives of the DRC tenants. 

During the performance of an episode of a classical children’s play on environment protection, the kids on the stage invited the tenants to take part in the waste classification interactions. A specialist in the field made on-spot comments on the performance basing on the municipal government requirements. The Municipal and HSC officials then handed out publicity materials to the tenants’ representatives before an official from the Solid Waste Treatment Office made a presentation on the procedures, transportation and treatment of waste classification. Mr. Chen Tao, Liangmaqiao DRC deputy manager, read aloud the Waste Classification Announcement on behalf of all the DRC Property Management Departments. Mr. Liu Yong, HSC deputy general manager, spoke on behalf of the corporation and pointed out that waste classification could help improve the environment, promote recycling and speed up the construction process of an energy-saving and environment-friendly city. The DRCs, as place of working and living of the expatriate community in Beijing, was proud to take lead in the campaign and regarded it as a priority in property management service elevating.

The event presented multidimensional interpretations on the significance of waste classification to further raise the tenants’ awareness and laid down a good foundation for the campaign to move forward.
