Founded on January 2, 1962, Beijing Service Bureau for Diplomatic Missions (BDS) is a public institution affiliated to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and operating along the lines of an enterprise. BDS adheres to the objective of "serving the diplomatic cause, serving foreign diplomatic missions, enhancing friendship and showcasing exemplary work style ", strenuously promotes the core values of "respect, responsibility and innovation", conscientiously fulfills the duty and mandate of the state, sincerely serves more than 400 foreign diplomatic missions, representative offices of international organizations and foreign media organizations in Beijing.
In recent years, BDS has been keeping up with the development and changes of the times, vigorously participating in market competition, constantly increasing the depth and expanding the scope of services for foreign diplomatic missions, and focusing on building highly reputable services brands. Presently, with over 10,000 employees and nearly 1,500,000-square-meter housing properties, BDS has become a comprehensive multi-sector services group serving foreign diplomatic missions in China, with its business scope covering engineering construction, house leasing, human resources, culture and education, hotels and catering, property management, and auto rental.

History
Jun. 1953 As approved by Premier Zhou Enlai, the Diplomatic Personnel Service Agency was set up, which was the predecessor of Beijing Service Bureau for Diplomatic Personnel.
Early 1955 The Diplomatic Personnel Service Division was established in place of the Diplomatic Personnel Service Agency.
Jan. 2, 1962 With the approval of Premier Zhou Enlai and Vice Premiers Chen Yi and Xi Zhongxun, Beijing Municipal Diplomatic Personnel Service Bureau was officially established.

Jan. 1962 Under dual leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Beijing Municipal Government
Mar. 1968 Under exclusive leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Jan. 1970 Under dual leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Beijing Municipal Government
Jul. 1984 The Beijing Municipal Diplomatic Personnel Service Bureau was renamed Beijing Service Bureau for Diplomatic Missions.
