AIIB Project Office Offers Women’s Day Gifts

The International Women’s Day celebrates women’s important contributions and achievements in the political, economic and social areas, annually on 8 March. To send our regards to the AIIB women employees and their family members, promote the “green” lifestyle, and showcase the DRC staff’s professionalism, the AIIB Project Office presented our female colleagues with green plants, greeting cards and flower seeds to mark the Women’s Day.

Preparations for the event were made days in advance, as it was the second time the Office marks this special occasion. Based on the comments and suggestions collected beforehand, details were hammered out, aimed at giving a pleasant surprise to the ladies. It was learned that the AIIB employees were concerned with Beijing’s air quality, and therefore green plants and flower seeds were chosen as gifts. The DRC logo and concept of service were printed on the greeting cards to show our care for the tenants and professionalism. 12 species of plants were selected for the day to suit various preferences. 

6 staff of the Office manned their posts in the lobby at 7 a.m., 8 March, 2017, ready to present the gifts. As the AIIB employees arrived, they were amazed to find themselves in a sea of flowers and green plants. They took photos to mark the occasion and appreciated our thoughtfulness. The male employees also received gifts despite the fact that it was the Women’s Day, as each of them had the support of their ladies at home. The men accepted the presents on behalf of their women family members and thanked the Project Office for the considerate arrangement. One of them claimed that his flu was already cured by the green plants. The lady employees were told that they could also go to the coffee shop for free drinks and such a sweet gesture was highly appreciated.

In nearly 2 hours’ time, 160 green plants were handed out to AIIB employees’ wide acclaims. Thanks to relevant sections’ concerted efforts, the event was a total success: the Customer Service Department taking lead in making arrangements and preparations; the Security and Housekeeping Service Department helping with plant moving on early morning; the Conferencing Service Department proofreading the greeting words. Some plants were left behind for the President and senior officials who were out of town on business at the time.

The gifts helped send our greetings and the women employees’ contentment will motivate us to work closer together to improve our service. All efforts will be made to serve China’s diplomatic cause and our customers and make the DRC brand name shine in the hearts of the clients.
