Prior to the arrival of the Spring Festival when the paper cuts for good fortune were pasted on the windows and red lanterns lit and hoisted at the entrances, the Qijiayuan DRC was all set to celebrate. To pass on the festive ambiance and promote traditional Chinese culture, the Property Management held a Jiaozi Making Party for the tenants, on 20 January 2017.
As part of a collective effort, a tutor from the Chinese Language Center was invited to brief the tenants on the Chinese New Year traditions. The venue was decorated with adornments of traditional motifs, as the preparation for Jiaozi making was well underway. To add more taste to the fun, snack and soft drink stations were also erected.
At the invitation of the customer service office, 28 tenants, including the ambassadress of Surinam, minister and military attaché of the Sri Lankan embassy, counselor of the Angolan embassy and senior diplomats from embassies of Pakistan, Mozambique as well as tenants from the US, Germany and Qatar, took part in the event. The guests took group photos against the backdrop of the New Year decorations. The party began with the tutor’s presentation on Chinese zodiacs related stories and traditional New Year welcoming preparations. As the presentation finally came to the part of food, a PPT presentation of the Jiaozi was shown, signaling the beginning of the hand-on cooking experience.
The participants were arranged into 3 groups, along with the utensils that the Property Management prepared for the occasion. The guests tried their hands by copying the moves of the Property Management employees and freshly made Jiaozi came into shape, one by one, onto the table. Riddle guessing also took place for the participants to win rewards. Before the party came to an end, the Property Management took the opportunity to inform the tenants how to install and use the Bank of China E-Community App, with the customer’s manual for the users’ comments and suggestions.
As the Jiaozi was cooked and took out of
the wok, the tenants all agreed to say that they were very pleased to have a
chance to celebrate the Chinese New Year with the self-made dumplings. The
Property Management has endeavored to offer the best possible services to the
tenants with care and love last year and, at the advent of the New Year,
another year of hard but satisfying work is envisaged to contribute to the accomplishment
the Qijiayuan DRC Renovation Project.
