From the Yoga Studio, level 6, AIIB Building, the sound of dancing tells passers-by that a tap dance class was underway during lunch break, 24 January 2017. As early as October 2016, it was learned that an AIIB employee named Larry had the intension to teach Latin dance to anyone that loved to learn. The recent class was the result of 3-months’ preparatory efforts.
Latin dance is a popular, relaxed and leisurely form of artistic expression, giving plenty room for improvisation. The romantic, passionate, vigorous and heated genre is widely loved by the Latinos. It is believed Cuba is the place of origin of the style for celebrating triumphs and good harvests. Today, despite some reservations for the bold and unrestrained emotional gestures, Latin Dance has already taken the entire world by storm.
Larry, the tutor volunteer, currently an AIIB budget officer, began learning Latin Dance in 1997, professionally, in New York and has since taken part in a number of contests in the New York City and Miami. Being a modest and laid-back person, it makes communications with him pretty easy, resulting into a general idea that covered event publicity and promotion, class scheduling and needed facilities. Before long, every detail was put into place and ready to go. Amazed at our efficiency, Larry said he was confident that the event would be a success, given our experiences.
Nonetheless, Larry’s work suddenly required a lot of him and the initial plan had to be put off for 3 months, from October 2016 to January 2017. Despite the unexpected delay, this department continued to add details to the program, taking advantage of the extra time. In the end, 4 classes came into reality with this department’s help.
The class was a first-ever custom-made event
for an individual customer in the face of countless previously unknown difficulties.
Nonetheless, in the year of the Rooster, we are going to continue striving to venture
into new areas and meet new challenges to deliver the best possible service to
our customers.
