Provide High Quality Service to Greet the New Year: Jianwai Media Center Holds Networking Event for Embassies of Pacific Island Countries

Passionate dances and songs, together with fascinating kava, created the festive ambiance of the Christmas-New Year Party for Embassies of Pacific Island countries, which was held at the Jianwai Media Center on 10 December. The Ambassadors of Micronesia, Tonga, Samoa, Fiji, Vanuatu and Papua New Guinea as well as some 70 Embassy employees and their families gathered to celebrate Christmas and New Year with their own performances. 

Wearing celebratory costumes, the diplomats arrived at the Media Center with their families at about 6 p.m. The Samoan Ambassador took to the stage to play the electronic organ and sang songs with his colleagues. As more and more participants showed up, the guests exchanged pleasantries and started chatting with each other.

The feast formally began at 7 p.m., presided over by the Minister of the Micronesian Embassy. Touched by the joyous and warm atmosphere, the Ambassadors organized their employees to go up on the stage to perform dances and songs in teams to the accompaniment improvised by the Samoan Ambassador. When a Micronesian folk dance kicked off the night, the Samoan Ambassadress led the Embassy staff to sing a Christmas carol, which was followed by a duet performed by the Tongan Ambassador and Micronesian Minister. Then, there came the performances of teams Fiji, Vanuatu and Papua New Guinea which brought the event to a stirring climax 

Maintaining close relations with the DRC, the Ambassadors and Embassy employees from the Pacific Island countries regard the Jianwai DRC as their home in Beijing and held events frequently there. The DRC Property Management Department had been promoting the Jianwai Media Center’s conferencing service, and this Christmas event is the second one since the successful Samoan Embassy reception was held there on 5 November, 2016. This Department approached the Micronesian Embassy to promote the venue and conferencing services and invited the Embassy’s Minister to inspect the venue and facilities, who was so convinced and decided on the spot that the party should be held there and rent immediately paid. 

Paying close attention to the preparatory work, we inspected the facilities 3 days in advance to prevent any potential glitches from occurring. We assisted the Embassy with venue setup and decoration in conjunction with the caterer, a DRC associated business owner. On the day of the event, we sent maintenance workers to check on all the equipment and facilities, switched on the lights in the compound, cleaned up the site, reserved parking space in advance for security staff and conducted patrols to ensure safety during the event. Such attentive and comprehensive services won the senior diplomats’ commendation.

We will continue to make efforts in building amity between the Department and diplomatic clients through offering attentive and professional services, and do a better job of promoting the conferencing service of the Jianwai Media Center so as to create more chances for the customers to make use of the Media Center.
