Make Concerted Efforts to Provide Better Conferencing Service: Closing Ceremony for China - South Asia Press Center Exchange Program 2016

The Information Department of MFA (ID-MFA) and the China Public Diplomacy Association (CPDA) held the Closing Ceremony for the China - South Asia Press Center (CSNC) Exchange Program 2016 at the Function Room of Jianwai Media Center on 2 December, 2016. The first group of the journalists participating in the Program as well as CPDA and ID-MFA officials, approximately 60 people altogether, took part in the event. Hu Zhengyue, CPDA Vice Dhair, Liu Jin, ID-MFA Deputy Director General, Lin Li, HSC Deputy General Manager, and Ambassador of Nepal in Beijing attended the event. 

Beginning at 10 a.m., the organization committee opened the event with a video clip introducing the CSNC Program and participating journalists, which was followed by Mr. Hu Zhengyue’s speech. Mr. Hu gave a brief account of the study, work and life of the first group of journalists taking the training course in the past year. He hoped that the South Asian reporters would, with what they had learned and experienced in China, make greater contribution to building up friendship between the South Asian countries and China. 

After the speech, Mr. Hu and Liu presented Certificates of Completion and commemorative albums to and took group photos with the journalists. 

A Pakistani lady journalist spoke and thanked the CPDA for providing a precious opportunity for the journalists to study and exchange views with their counterparts. She pledged to continue learning and contribute to building friendship between the two countries. The journalists sang a song in Chinese - Friends - towards the end of the event that brought the ceremony to a close in thunderous applause. 

The Function Room was the venue for the successful Opening Ceremony for the China - Africa Press Center’s 3rd Exchange Program held in last March by the ID-MFA. The ID-MFA gave recognition to the high quality service and facilities that this Department provided. Through lobbying, the Public Relations and Sales Department convinced the ID-MFA and the CPDA to choose the Function Room again for the China - South Asia Press Center event in 2016. The Jianwai DRC Property Management Department made proactive efforts together with the Public Relations & Sales Department in making prior preparations to ensure the success of the event.

Thanks to the guidance of the BDS and the HSC executives and the assistance from our colleagues of other departments, this Department has successfully organized numerous large scale events this year. Further efforts will be made next year to establish a larger client base and provide better conferencing services. Working together with the Public Relations & Sales Department, we are looking forward to having more journalists come to settle at the Jianwai DRC. We will provide better facilities and services to the journalists and yield bigger benefits for the Media Center.
