An innovative approach may achieve the same result with less effort. As 87% of the tenants at Jindao DRC come from 37 countries using 12 languages and to better communicate with them, the Property Management Department decided to host customer reach-out events for tenants from different backgrounds.
The Property Management Department organized a family get-together party for the Spanish speaking customers from Bolivia, Chile and Ecuador, among others, on the evening of 28 October. At the beginning of the event, the Department thanked the tenants for their constant understanding, support and cooperation and expressed the hope that the Property Management Department-tenant interactions would go deeper and last longer in the future. A tenants’ representative from Bolivia commented, “I am very satisfied to see my wife and kids living happily and comfortably at the Jindao DRC. The dedicated work performed and timely service provided by the Property Management Department when dealing with issues in our apartment offers me peace of mind at work and in daily life.”
When delicious food was served to the partygoers, one of the participating diplomats, however, suddenly “disappeared”. According to his family, he must have gone out for a smoke, but it took quite a while for him to return, holding something in his embrace as he hurried back in. He exclaimed with excitement, “I am so happy today” and took out his “surprise”. It was a bottle of fine wine from his country that he fetched from home for everyone to share, which brightened up the party.
When making preparations for the party, the lack of translation competence proved to be an issue that the Department had to tackle. We would normally ask for help of our “little friends”, the DRC children, in such cases. However, when the Bolivian Embassy’s Military Attaché learned about our need for a translator of Spanish, he recommended someone who had worked for the Embassy to interpret, free of charge, for the event. During the event, the Property Management Department staff communicated with the tenants on issues including asking the children to avoid making too much noise and safety protection in the compound. Thanks to the food and wine, the party was brought to a climax amidst the laughter of the guests from Flamingo. The Property Management Department staff and the tenants exchanged presents before the party was winded up.
Before leaving, the participants said they
were happy with the event organized for Spanish-speaking tenants and thanked
the Property Management Departmentfor being so considerate that they were
offered a chance to learn more about the improvements made by the DRC. The
event was dedicated to solving problems in the tenants’ daily life through
better communication to improve services and build closer customer relations.
