In order to meet the requirement of “building a community of booklovers” indicated in the government work report of the past 2 years successively, the event was held at the advent of the International Children’s Day, aiming to create a better environment for the book lovers, increase the intellectual satisfaction of the tenants, and strengthen the ties between the Property Management Department and the tenants.

During the Book Week, the Bank of China’s Community Life Tools App was also introduced and promoted. Liu Yong, Deputy General Manager of the HSC, and senior officials from the Corporate Culture Group took part in the opening ceremony.

The event started at 10 a.m. under the blue sky on the sunny day. Mr. Liu was invited to deliver the opening address, and said that the children living in the DRC today were recipients of the DRC service and would be the future of our world. As such, with the kind support from the Huoban Huiju Corporation, the objective of the Children’s Book Week was to create an opportunity for the youngsters to share the joys of reading books that they have discovered in a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. He hoped that the parents would also join their kids in reading books to carry on the time honored tradition and grow up together with the young. He wished the young children a good time on the International Children’s Day.

The opening speech was followed by a presentation made by a Huoban Huiju rerpesentative who explained that, during the Book Week, the children and their parents would be invited to come and share their joy of reading books, and the corporation would offer multilingual books promoting traditional Chinese culture. Comic books were also included on the reading list for the children to have fun during their festive time.

An interactive magic show then went underway and the children were invited to step onto the stage to watch closely how the magician accomplished the tricks under their very eyes and receive gifts in the end.

At the close of the magic show, the magician led the children to the reading room to read books, watch films and have fun.

The Book Week is dedicated to adding more flavor of culture to the DRC life and help promote cultural diversity. It is also an opportunity for increasing cultural exchanges between China and the world.
