The Property Management Department of the Liangmaqiao
DRC organized a spring excursion for DRC tenants to the BDS Zhangjiawan
Production Base located at Tongzhou District, Beijing, on 9 April, 2016.
Some 60 diplomats from 9 countries,
including Tajikistan, Uruguay, Barbados, Japan, France, Chile, Switzerland,
Spain and India, took part in the event together with their families. The Ambassador
of Barbados and his wife also participated in the activity. HSC officials,
including Liu Yong, Deputy General Manager, Huang Debiao, Manager of the Fire
Prevention and Security Department, and staff from the Public Relations &
Sales Department also participated.
In high spirits from beginning to end, the
diplomats had a great time and harvested the vegetables. It was the first time
for many of them to pick up fresh celeries, spinaches, radishes, cabbages as
well as strawberries in the open fields and in the fresh air, and they enjoyed a
novel and unique experience.
The strawberry-growing greenhouse proved to
be extremely appealing with the fresh fruits hidden between verdant bushes, as the
children just couldn’t wait to put the sweet berries into their mouths to have
a taste of the spring time freshness.
In the flower-growing greenhouse, blossoms in
a rainbow of colors captivated the visitors’ eyes and cameras.
Following the vegetable and fruit picking
activity, the visitors turned to the game of angling.
As many visitors were first-timers in the angling
sport, the DRC staff taught them how to make the basic moves, put the bait on
the hook, throw out the line and lift it up.
After that, a game of patience began which rewarded
the anglers with a very satisfactory harvest eventually.
At the lunch break, the visitors were led to
the banquet room where Mr. Liu Yong delivered a welcome speech.
He said, “The DRC brand name is made
increasingly known to the diplomatic community in Beijing in recent years.
Though coming from different countries, regions and cultural backgrounds, the
DRC tenants have unexceptionally found a home of peace, comfort and intimacy in
the DRC. It is hoped, through various reach-out activities organized by the DRC
Property Management Department, communication between and understanding of the
HSC and customers will be enhanced to make the DRC life more harmonious and easy.
Today’s excursion is aimed to give the customers a taste of rural life in China
and a chance to learn more about your host country.”
The Barbados Ambassador made a speech in response,
thanking the HSC for the excursion.
He extended his appreciation to the HSC and
DRC Management for the efforts made and hard work performed in organizing the
excursion as well as the caring arrangements for the visitors to have a taste
of the rustic charm of countryside lifestyle. The visit was relaxing and
invigorating for him and his wife and cherishable for the tenants from
different parts of the world, and offered a chance for them to meet and mingle
with each other at such a scenic place for deeper understanding and friendship.
He said the visit was a precious, pleasant and fortunate experience for everyone
and hoped the DRC would organize such events regularly to further enhance
exchanges and communication between the DRC residents as well as provide
chances for them to learn more about the Chinese culture and share a happy and
harmonious experience with the DRC. He also thanked the farm workers for
offering the visitors fresh produce and caring services, particularly the chefs
and catering staff for preparing and serving a very delicious luncheon. Finally,
he proposed a toast to the DRC and friendship between the peoples of the world.
Seeing the happy faces of the visitors, the
DRC staff felt a profound sense of achievement and pride, as their hard work
was more than generously rewarded by the enthusiasm and passion expressed by the
customers.
