Conferencing Service under Test: Public Relations & Sales Department Delivers Service for SCO Secretary General Inauguration Ceremony

    The inauguration ceremony and reception for the newly arrived SCO Secretary General Rashid Alimov took place in the Multi-function Hall of the Liangmaqiao Diplomatic Office Building (LDOB) on the evening of 4 February, 2016. Zhang Yesui, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, and senior diplomats including many ambassadors to China, attended the reception. Mr. Yuan Weimin, Director General of the Beijing Service Bureau for Diplomatic Missions (BDS), also took part in the event. Attaching great importance to the reception, Mr. Zhang Yue and Miss Lin Li, General and Deputy General Managers of the HSC, inspected the venue beforehand and took part in the reception as well. 

    Under the direction and with the support of Ms. Jiang Qi, Deputy Director General of the BDS, and top HSC executives, the PR & Sales Department has stepped up efforts to promote the LDOB and Jianwai Media Center (JMC) conferencing service, in addition to the existing services, and take all opportunities to introduce the facilities to potential clients from diplomatic missions. With ceaseless endeavors, the first diplomatic customer, SCO Secretariat, was received at the LDOB in 2016 when the inauguration ceremony and reception of Mr. Alimov, the new Secretary General, took place. 

    Despite of a limited budget, the SCO Secretariat is a customer who paid close attention to detail and standards of work. Nonetheless, under the guidance of the HSC leadership, the PR & Sales Department worked with collective wisdom and concerted efforts, gave equal importance to the political and economic benefits, focused on win-win results, and took proactive steps in coordinating the services of catering service suppliers and backdrop producers to meet the SCO requirements. With the support of the Liangmaqiao DRC Property Management Department, the PR & Sales Department succeeded in delivering very satisfactory services to the SCO in respect of the inauguration reception eventually.

    Upon conclusion of the reception, the new SCO Secretary General shook hands and took group photos with the BDS and HSC executives to thank them for the satisfactory service. The SCO Secretariat sent a thank-you letter to HSC to extend its heartfelt appreciation on the second day after the reception.

    The successful service provided in respect of the reception is an important breakthrough achieved by the PR & Sales Department in its conferencing service promotional campaign, which Ms. Jiang Qi commended by saying, “It is a very good beginning!”. The PR & Sales Department will draw on the experiences from the event to make continuous efforts in promoting the LDOB and JMC conferencing service, aiming to bring even greater economic benefits to the HSC.
