Diwali: Tayuan DRC’s New Year Party

      Though it was already late autumn, the sunlight was still pleasantly warm on the afternoon of 2 November 2015 when a Diwali party was held in the auditorium of the Tayuan DRC, jointly sponsored by the Military Attaché’s Office of the Indian Embassy in Beijing and Property Management Department of Tayuan DRC. The wives of the four officers from the Military Attaché’s Office as well as spouses of the Military Attachés from the embassies of Argentine, Chile, Canada, Japan, Germany and the US, among others, graced the occasion with their presence.

     Diwali is celebrated in India for the coming of the New Year, which is observed in each October or November when the hottest season is over pending the pleasant cooler time, regarded by the locals as the symbol of good fortune and happiness. To celebrate the festival, every home would put up lanterns and decorations.

     The occasion was also augmented with countless mouthwatering traditional Indian delicacies, as a projector was broadcasting a documentary of Indian customs and daily delights, exhibiting a nation of ancient culture and mystiques. Following the lead of the professionals, the military wives staged wondrous and bedazzling Indian dances, wearing national costumes.

     The success of the event owes immensely to the all-out cooperation between the DRC and Military Attaché’s Office, particularly the efficient communications between Gao Limei, DRC staff, and the officers’ wives, as well as dedicated and meticulous preparations, arrangements, venue decorations and site orderliness made and delivered by the Property Management Department. The Military Attaché’s Office gave its hearty thanks to the DRC for organizing the event and hoped to have more such cooperation in the future at the end of the celebrations.
