Senior diplomats from 22 countries, including 15 Ambassadors from, for example, Samoa, Luxemburg, Belgium, Kazakhstan and Croatia, among others, as well as Ministers and Consul General, accepted the invitation to take part in the journey to Sanya, Hainan, organized by the PR & Sales Dept., in collaboration with the government and traditional Chinese medicine hospital of Sanya city. Ms. Jiang Qi, BDS Deputy Director General, and Miss. Lin Li, HSC Deputy General Manager, accompanied the distinguished guests on the trip.

On the evening of 19 November, the Sanya city government hosted a welcoming banquet and Mr. Wu Peng, Vice Mayor, delivered a warm speech to greet the arriving envoys and made a multi-sided presentation on the developments of Sanya city in regard to the municipal administration, economy and tourism industry, coupled with a promotional documentary of the city. In her address, Ms. Jiang Qi elaborated on the continued expatriate-oriented service innovation and expansion undertaken by the BSB-HSC to meet the demand of the diplomatic clientele in Beijing for understanding more Chinese culture, aimed to create a new platform for deeper understanding and better friendship. In addition to culture, the journey was dedicated to health care, as she wished participants would take the opportunity to learn about and familiarize with the traditional Chinese medicine and work toward a healthier and happier life.

On behalf of the diplomatic delegation, Mr. Tapusalaia Terry Toomata, Ambassador of Samoa, delivered a speech to thank, firstly, the BDS-HSC for organizing the trip and said that the BDS-HSC’s bold innovations in recent years by hosting diverse cultural events had bettered and enriched the diplomatic clients’ cultural life. He gave special thanks to Ms. Jiang and the DRC employees for organizing the journey that offered his colleagues and him a getaway from the wintry Beijing, as well as a chance to experience the charms of the traditional Chinese medicine in the pleasingly tropical city of Sanya.

Ms. Jiang Qi took the senior diplomats to a tour to the Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Sanya the next day, 20 November, to a close encounter with the traditional Chinese medical service, where some 35,000 expatriates altogether, including dignitaries, such as the Kazakhstani president and Russian prime minister, had experienced upscale and custom-made health care. For the exceptional service, the Hospital has received high recognition from the Chinese foreign ministry and Tajikistani embassy in China. With scrupulous preparations and arrangements, the Hospital presented a warm welcome to the visitors, and Mr. Liu Dexi, the former president, made a PPT presentation on the elementary of the traditional Chinese medicine for easy understanding of the diplomats in the morning. In the afternoon, the Hospital offered trial treatments to the visitors for closer familiarization with acupuncture, suction cup and massage treatments, to the visitors’ admiration.

Despite of the unexpected incident of flight cancellation due to bad weather, the efficient and considerate handling of the tour arrangements by the organizing team ensured the eventual success of the event. The Ambassadors of Belgium, Cyprus and Kazakhstan, among others, gave their thanks and appreciation for the DRC team in person to Ms. Jiang and the Consul General of Spain and Chairperson of the Japanese Business Association sent thank-you letters to the HSC to extend their appreciation for a trip of beautiful sights and helpful interaction with prominent Chinese medicine specialists.
