Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is one of the brilliant parts of the Chinese civilization throughout the history of the nation’s development. The classic medical science, under the guidance of the Theory of Ying-Yang and Harmony between Man and Nature, has developed into a unique form of oriental science to date. In recent decades, TCM services have been introduced globally and contributed to public health protection all over the world. To promote the traditional medicine and offer a chance for foreign tenants to experience its wonders, Tayuan DRC Property Management Department organized the Traditional Chinese Medicine Demonstration Day jointly with Guoyihui as one of the themed events in the Year of Traditional Chinese Culture, at the Function Room on 25 March, 2017. Some 70 diplomats and families from about more than ten countries, including Germany, Japan, Korea, Kazakhstan, India, Chile, Argentina and Ghana, took part in the event.
The attendees began gathering in the Function Room at 3 p.m. and the instrument and aromas of the medicinal herbs drew their attention as they looked around and conversed with each other. Some 20 Chinese medical practitioners from Guiyihui, wearing snow-white gowns, were ready to share their expertise with the spectators and provide free consultation. The most experienced practitioner started feeling the pulses of the participants, asking questions about their sleep, diet and daily habits, and offering them advice on their health conditions, potential risks and things to note in the future. The participants listened carefully to the advice and started to discuss with the practitioner about follow-up medical and health-care procedures, exchanging their contact information with the TCM doctors. On the other end of the room, the participants couldn’t wait to have a taste of the massage, meridian and collateral treatment, face scraping therapy and bone-setting treatment, spinal pressure instrument and the vascular endothelial cell testing system. Some participants closed their eyes to enjoy the process, or grimaced as if they were experiencing unspeakable pains; and others listened carefully to every word of the practitioner.
During the interval, the Property Management Department employees promoted the DRC-Bank of China E-Community Life Tool App and demonstrated to the guests how to download and install the App and use relevant functions. The guests hoped intelligent community services would reach all corners of the DRC soon to provide convenience for them in their daily life.
2 hours flew away. Toward the end, the
guests all agreed that it was an eye-opening experience to be shown the depth
and breadth of the traditional Chinese medicine. They appreciated the
practitioners’ expertise and professional advice, and were amazed by the
advanced medical instruments. The event further aroused the residents’ interest
in Chinese culture. They said they would like to go to the clinic to learn more
about the magic of the traditional medicine, through the assistance of the DRC.
Eventually, they said they looked forward to taking part in the next event of
the Year of Traditional Chinese Culture.
