The Maintenance
Section of the AIIB Project Office came into being and went into operation upon
winning the bid for the AIIB property management project, with support and
cooperation provided by relevant HSC departments. Under the guidance of the
Project Office, the Maintenance Section has inspected and accepted 29 facility-related
systems under its charge within merely one month’s time. The maintenance
workers worked overtime to provide support on a number of important occasions
and have showcased the DRC staff’s professionalism and devotee-ism. They reasoned
with the general contractor and relevant property management staff, and have demonstrated
the DRC staff’s sense of responsibility. Having weathered through the past six
months, the AIIB Maintenance Section has proven to be a strong team ready to
fight uphill battles with team spirit.
The Maintenance
Section is of key importance in ensuring the normal functioning of the AIIB
Building. In addition to the routine maintenance and inspection work, they need
to also manage numerous smaller projects assigned by the property owner. In the
face of an exceptionally large workload and challenges, each and every maintenance
worker is obliged to be familiarized with the machines and equipment so as to
be able deal with any scenario, should anything goes wrong. It is required that
every worker should be able to deliver multiple services in addition to their
main responsibilities, which relate to maintenance, repair and inspection of
various systems as well as handling emergency system problems, so as to ensure
that the facilities under their charge operate in an efficient and orderly
manner.
At the mid-year
review meeting presided over by Liu Zijian, the Project Director, PPT
presentations were made as a record of the work performed in the past six
months, telling stories of how well the jobs were done. The maintenance workers
each made presentations to share their experiences and lessons with the fellow
workers, reporting their achievements in simple language and with pictures. The
meeting lasted almost 3 hours, which revealed that each of the participants
made very thorough preparations in advance. The meeting not only offered a
chance for the workers to summarize their experiences and lessons, but also
helped them enhance their communication skills. More importantly, it was also an
occasion where experiences were shared to increase preparedness to deal with future
emergencies.
Following the
presentations, Zhang Hui, the Engineering Manager, made remarks to thank the maintenance
workers for their hard work in the past six months since the founding of the Maintenance
Section in the beginning of 2016 to ensure all the facilities in the AIIB
Building were functioning. She gave her appreciation for the way the review
meeting was conducted that proved to be highly beneficial, and her thanks for
the careful preparations made by each of the workers. She hoped they would
further expand their expertise so as to have the capacity to deal with problems
of different facilities and equipment. She expected that, as a youthful and
vigorous team aged 35 on the average, the team would work even more creatively
with the help from the elder and more experienced employees, so as to stand up
to whatever challenges that might emerge in the days to come.
Before it was
called a day, Feng Cheng, AIIB Project Office General Manager, expressed his
appreciation for the excellent work that the maintenance workers had done and
his admiration to the workers who were able to memorize the technical details
of each and every one of the systems in such a short time. He hoped the workers
would continue their efforts in getting familiarized with the technical
specifics to ensure smooth operation of the systems and make greater
achievements through joint efforts, based on the experiences gained and lessons
learned. Finally, Mr. Feng appealed to the workers to make more endeavors to
contribute to the building up of the DRC brand name under the leadership of Mr.
Sun Jinyou and Mr. Lu Junhua, the Section leaders, in anticipation of winning
the AIIB Head Office property management contract in the future.
