Sharing the youth and imagining the future of DRC - 2015 Youth Work Conference of the Housing Service Corporation

      Traditionally, managers at all levels of the BDS and the Housing Service Corporation attached great importance to the training of young people and place great expectations on them. To further enhance youth exchanges and stimulate the creativity of young executives, on the afternoon of December 8, the Housing Service Corporation held its Youth Work Conference 2015 in the multipurpose room on the third floor of the Liangmaqiao diplomatic office building. Jiang Qi, Deputy Director General of the BDS, Cheng Jie Secretary of the BDS Discipline and Inspection Commission, Xiao Ling, Secretary of the Communist Youth League and senior executives, Departments’ heads, all the candidates for intermediate reserve cadres and young cadres of the Housing Service Corporation, 97 people in all, attended the conference.

      Accompanied by the passionate song of the Communist Youth League of China, the conference began. According to statistics, the Corporation currently has a total of 117 young professionals under 35 years of age, including 11 people occupying official positions of chiefs and deputy chiefs, and 45 having completed or are still in training targeting the reserve cadres, together representing 48% of total of the young people of the DRC. At the same time, the majority of these young people are active in more than 10 key work groups, playing a dominant role in business activities of the Corporation.

      The Youth Work Conference is essentially a youth style exhibition platform and a platform spreading the positive energy of the Corporation. Xi Wang, who has worked for 3 years in Department of Financial Services, told the participants about all the responsibilities of her Department, saying that "finance is no small matter", and that "it requires young people to not only be attentive but also adhere to the principles”.  Gao Mei, who has worked for 8 years in Ta Yuan Department of Property Management, shared her experiences. She changed 3 times her place of work, had 4 different positions, and said all that did not stopped her from learning more and making progress. Then, two young representatives from the Information and Research Department and Engineering Department delivered detailed presentation on two important ongoing projects of the Corporation: the development and construction of the DRC-Bank of China E-community APP and the Qijiayuan renovation and expansion project. These two young people have not only shown a deep understanding of their important position, which demonstrated their awareness of their responsibility and mission. These four representatives, being exciting and realistic, touched the hearts and won the applause of the participants, again and again.

      For the Housing Service Corporation, 2015 was a crucial year for the exploration of ways of transformation and modernization. The Corporation encourages the young people to make suggestions, and these young people are proactively thinking through brainstorming, aiming to assist with the common business development plan. In the following open discussion, 13 young cadres competed in putting forward proposals on more than a dozen issues, ranging from downsizing, improving efficiency,saving energy, developing the DRC-Bank of China Ecommunity APP, network marketing, and conducting strategic research. These valuable suggestions not only reflect the great enthusiasm and the intention for active participation of young people in the management of the DRC but also demonstrate the strong sense of belonging of everyone to the DRC, as well as their confidence in the company in terms of its future development. The young people would like to contribute more strength and wisdom to the development of the Corporation.

      Then, the leaders at the meeting made comments and provided advice. Xiao Ling, Secretary of the BDS Committee of Communist Youth League praised these young people for their dynamism, maturity, and abilities, saying he was confident about the promising future of the youth in DRC and was hoping to exchange ideas and progress  constantly with young people together.

      Liu Chunhua, Director of the Information and Research Office and Gao Yuanyuan, Director of the Personnel Department, as the division chief and deputy chief, expressed their feelings. Director Liu, seeing the great interest shown by young people of DRC in project development work and construction of the DRC-Bank of China E-community APP and the great importance they attached to the work of the Corporation, said she thought the software would play an important role in promoting the transformation and modernization of the Corporation. She also introduced participants to the next-stage work plan and called on everyone to work together to make this software available as soon as possible to serve customers. Gao Yuanyuan, Director of the Personnel Department, said it was an energetic meeting and commended the DRC youth for their spirit of "daring to speak, daring to think, and daring to act" , and expressed the hope that by implementing various human resource policies of the Corporation, a pool of talents could be trained for the future. Gao called on young aspirants to participate actively in the property management work abroad to make full contribution to the Corporation on the real estate markets abroad.

      At the meeting, Zhang Yue, General Manager of the Housing Service Corporation, spoke highly of this meeting, and hoped that all departments could implement the proposals participants put forward, and apply the results to the actual work. He cited the famous writer Bi Shumin to encourage young people of the DRC to work responsibly, because success in life comes from taking responsibility. Zhang said that the Corporation is now facing the task of transformation and modernization in the market, asking everyone to stick to their own tasks, and treat the work assignment of the Corporation seriously. Especially in the face of unexpected events, a tough job, and when playing a supporting role in the team, young people should demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility which reflect their loyalty to the Corporation. The future of the DRC is closely related to everyone, said Zhang finally, encouraging young people to take responsibility, face the challenges, have a strong faith, and work hard. Zhang believed that the future of the DRC is in young people’s hands.

      Cheng Jie, Secretary of the BDS Discipline Commission, said at the meeting that young friends were eager to express their thoughts and insights, which showed that the DRC is full of vitality and force. He firmly believed that, under the direction of the BDS and Corporation leaders and having such a team of young, dynamic, positive and progressive people, the DRC can only have a bright future. Young people of the DRC in the Housing Service Corporation have achieved enviable results in the atmosphere in which everyone seeks to make progress and in the Corporation's sound staff training system. He asked young people to focus on learning and the accumulation of lessons learned in practice, sum up experiences to enrich themselves,  cherish the opportunities and platforms the Corporation has provided, and contribute to the development of the BDS and the Corporation.

      Finally, Jiang Qi, Executive Deputy Director General of the BDS gave important instructions. She first brought good news to the participants, saying that the Housing Service Corporation had succeeded in the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) property management project bidding process, and that the technical standards of the Housing Service Corporation were ranked the first. Jiang said that this success was achieved  due to the strong support from the BDS, the years of expertise and experience accumulated by the Housing Service Corporation, and the exceptional performance of the DRC team.

       Second, Jiang commended the participants for the success of the youth work meeting, saying it play ed a role in the liberation of thought. She said that she hoped that young people of the DRC could have their own thinking and adhere to high quality standards, constantly hone and refine their skills, and learn to cope with the pressure at work. Via different platforms of youth exchanges and brainstorming  created by the Corporation, young people could change their ways of thinking. She said, at the same time, we must take advantage of the  DRC -Bank of China E-community APP project to upgrade our housing services , management level and brand competitiveness, so as to build customer confidence in the DRC, and increase their loyalty to and satisfaction with the DRC.

      Finally, Jiang said, "You change your methodology rather than principles and belief ",  encouraging young people to never stop on the road of their career developmentand never relax their efforts to create a better future for the DRC.

      The ardent expectations and advice of Ms. Jiang made young people feel encouraged and inspired.  We thank leaders of the BDS and the Corporation for the care and attention they give to the young staff, and believe that in the course of development of the Corporation, no matter what challenges we will face, the youth are ready to do a good job regardless of their position and difficulties, and work hard to leave their youthful imprint and compose their songs of youth in the DRC.
