Slovenian Embassy Returns to DRC

Currently located at the King’s Garden Villas, the Slovenian Embassy to China signed the lease contract formally on 29 March 2018 to return to the DRC, after 15 years of absence, since 2003. The Slovenian ambassador expressed his wish to come back to the DRC in October 2016 but couldn’t decide where to place the chancery until May 2017, following 12 tours to various options in the DRCs, before Villa LC04-02 was decided on, eventually. Yet, it had to take another dozen rounds of negotiations to finalize the deal. 

the signed contract was formally handed over to Miss. Lin Li, HSC deputy general manager, by H.E. ambassador Janez Premože on 30 March 2018. The senior diplomat commented that he was highly appreciative of HSC’s offer for the embassy and very touched by its passion and patience in pushing through the deal. He had to take four trips back home for the budget in person though. As the contract was signed, it was his hope that the HSC would continue to help in regard to the refurbishing costs. 

Miss. Lin replied that she was tremendously heartened by the embassy’s decision to return to the DRC and was very glad that the contract was eventually signed. She acknowledged that both sides had to make enormous efforts in pushing forward the process and appreciated the top envoy’s role of key importance in sealing the deal. The HSC would provide all-out support and cooperation in regard to the chancery renovation and redecoration as always and looked forward to celebrating the opening of the new office in July together with the ambassador. Taking the opportunity, Miss. Lin extended her invite for the ambassador to take part in the excursions to the Forbidden City and for cultural experience that HSC would organize for the international diplomatic community in Beijing, in April and May respectively. The emissary said he was looking forward to taking part in the events.
