Yunkang Company has a big responsibility overseeing the management and service of all the DSB owned properties - residential compounds, houses and office premises. In the municipal campaign to clear up potential safety risks, the company officials and employees launched an operation of safety sweep under the centralized leadership of the DSB and HSC, being highly aware of the significance of their jobs.
In one mind, the whole company took action and the operation proceeded steadily from late last November. A mobilization rally was held for all the neighborhood committee directors to pass on the DSB-HSC leadership instructions and layout the phased plan. The neighborhood committee directors and occupants signed the statement of pledge to watch out for fire hazard level by level by.
Potential risk removal operation was carried out in the corridors, underground spaces and courtyards of the multistoried buildings at Hepingli, Guanghuali, Nan Shiliju, Zaoying Beili and Shijia Hutong, among others. Nonetheless, the workers came across difficulties at building Nos. 2 and 3, Hepingli, and No. 19, Guanghuali, which were, eventually, addressed after several rounds of discussion, coordination and common efforts of the Yunkang employees together with the local community and neighborhood workers to remove the hazardous objects in the hallways and courtyards.
Despite of the freezing and windy weather conditions, the Yunkang staff worked in collaboration with the neighborhood committees of Tayuan, Shuguangli and Songyuli residential compounds composed of high rise buildings where large numbers of occupants live with limited outdoor space. Being the focus of the operation, the fallen leaves and inflammables in the courtyards were completely cleared out and shipped to the processing station at Tongzhou in the eastern suburbs. With neighborhood committees’ strong support and cooperation, potential fire hazards were removed and the residential compounds restored to their normal orderliness.
With a large amount of useless bits and pieces piling up in the underground level, passages and rooms for years, Building Nos. 38, 40 and 41, Shuguangli, were proved to be the operation’s tough spots and priority of the Zuojiazhuang Community supervisors as well. Nonetheless, with full support of the HSC leadership, the trash was completely cleared away without 10-odd days’ dedicated efforts from 27 December 2017 to 8 January 2018. Yunkang’s 1st Business Department and the neighborhood committee, with cooperation from the Landscaping Department and Aojie’s Construction Team, dismantled partitions and moved the garbage up to the ground level during the daytime to ship it out of the city in the nighttime in no less than 30 truckloads, leaving only the necessary lighting facilities and working non-stop through the New Year holidays! Mr. Hu Botao, Yunkang’s general manager, and Mr. Huang Debiao, HSC Fire Fighting and Security Department director, took on-spot inspection of the worksite to pay respect to the workers, thanking them for their firm endeavors, on 5 January, and put forward post-operation requirements on regularized management for the underground level.
During the sweep, Yunkang stepped up efforts in fire hazard inspection and awareness promotion in the properties to ensure the fire extinguishing facilities intact and functioning and issue notices of precaution to the occupants wherever any potential safety risk was discovered. All the monitoring equipment and facilities were checked up with particular attention to the power supply gears in the traditional quadrangle courtyards in Dongcheng and Xicheng districts, and the dwellers were prompted to address issues spotted in the inspection. Increased efforts were made to publicize awareness for fire hazard and electric scooter safety with posters and flyers pasted in all the residential communities for the residents to see.
During the operation, the Shuguangli Neighborhood Committee sent a letter under the title of Building a Community of Harmony with Common Endeavors to thank Yunkang for the excellent cooperation presented in the city-wide clear-up campaign and DSB for the strong support. Particular gratitude was dedicated to Yunkang employees Zhang Jun, Liu Anli and Li Jinhui who did admirably in supporting the neighborhood with pragmatic performances.
