Countryside Tour: Tayuan DRC Offers Experience of Folk Art for Tenants
2017-02-06

As diplomatic tenants are our traditional customers and residents from the US, Canadian and German Embassies are Tayuan DRC’s long-term valuable patrons, this department organized an countryside tour for tenants to experience folk arts on 5 November, 2016, which was taken part in by the diplomats and their families. Liu Yong, Deputy General Manager of the HSC, also took part in the event .

In the light fog of late autumn in Beijing, the participants departed, in the lingering warmth of the gleaming sun. On arriving at Gaobeidian, the destination, the folk art show was unveiled with the assistance of our staff.

In the Xiaoti Garden, the visitors were introduced to monuments describing the 24 Stories of Filiality. In the Museum of Gaobeidian Village, the visitors were presented the 1000-year long village history, traced back to the age of booming canal shipping, with hundreds of exhibits that made the spectators marvel at the evolution of history. In the Folk Art Museum, the visitors were shown art works including Peking Opera masks, clay sculptures, paper cut and embroideries. In the DIY session, the visitors just couldn’t wait to try their own skills. To start off, a local handicraftsman briefed the visitors on the history of the art form, painted paper kite making. Paper kites and tints were laid out on the table in front of the visitors for them to hone and test their creative art skills. Divided into small groups of two or three, some participants started painting, following stringently the artist’s instructions, and some consulted amongst themselves on how to do it perfectly. The 1.5-hour DIY session came to an end before anyone was aware of it. Eventually, the participants showed off their rainbow-colored kites with broad smiles.

The discussion on the DIY experience continued on the participants’ way back home. An American tenant said, “It was the first time my children and I experienced the traditional art but it will lead to more discoveries in the future. Today is so memorable that I hope I will have the chance to take part in more cultural events organized by the DRC.”

The countryside tour with folk art experience is a custom-made event for the customers in order to showcase our care and consideration and strengthen DRC-tenant relations. Based on the experience, more targeted events will be organized in the future for our clients from the Pacific Islands, Africa and Central Asia.

Taking this opportunity, we would like to give our heartfelt thanks to the Public Relations & Sales and Fire Prevention and Security Departments for their valuable support and assistance.
