The Workers Stadium

      On August 31, 1959, the construction the Workers Stadium was completed thanks to the investment of the ACFTU (All-China Federation of Trade Unions). It is one of the largest general stadiums of Beijing, covering 35 hectares, with a constructed area of over 80,000 square meters. It consists of three groups of buildings: the Workers Stadium, the Worker's Gymnasium and the swimming pool.

      Its central stadium can accommodate 60,000 spectators. The Workers Stadium is one of the famous "10 big Constructions" erected to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the founding of New China.

      The Workers Stadium covers an area of 350,000 square meters with the construction area of 80,000 square meters. With 24 stands, the whole stadium is an oval concrete composite frame structure, which is 282 meters long from north to southand 208 meters wide from east to west.
