On February 11, 2026 local time, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán met with Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Budapest.

Wang Yi conveyed the cordial greetings from Chinese leaders to Viktor Orbán. Wang Yi said that while the international situation is complex and volatile, what remains unchanged is the friendship and cooperation between China and Hungary. The leaders of the two countries have established firm mutual trust and friendship, providing a strategic guarantee for the sound development of China-Hungary relations. China appreciates that the government led by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has long pursued a friendly policy toward China and actively promoted all-round cooperation between the two countries. Facts have proven that developing mutually beneficial cooperation with China fully serves the fundamental interests of the Hungarian nation and its people and is a correct choice. China will continue to be a trustworthy and long-term strategic partner of Hungary. China-Hungary relations, built on the basis of mutual respect, equality and win-win cooperation, enjoy strong endogenous momentum and broad space for development. Hungary is welcome to continue to board the fast train of Chinese modernization to share opportunities and promote common development. Wang Yi expressed the belief that the Hungarian side will continue to offer strong support on issues concerning China's core interests. China will, as always, support Hungary in safeguarding its sovereignty, security, and development interests, and in pursuing a successful path suited to its national conditions. Viktor Orbán asked Wang Yi to convey his sincere greetings to Chinese leaders. He stated that President Xi Jinping's historic visit to Hungary in 2024 consolidated the traditional friendship between the two countries and deepened cooperation across various fields. The Chinese nation is a great nation, and China's leadership has strategic vision and the capacity for long-term planning, guiding China to achieve rapid development and grow into a stronger and more confident nation. The investment of Chinese enterprises in Hungary has ranked first for years in a row, and the Budapest-Belgrade Railway is set to begin operation soon.
