The BDS staff voluntary blood donation event 2012 took place in the Sanlitun DRC auditorium on the morning of 29 December, organized by the Department of Administrative Affairs and involving all BDS departments, according to the Voluntary Blood Donation Work Plan of the Beijing Red Cross Blood Center. The entire event, from staff signing in to blood testing and drawing, went smoothly and was a complete success.

Qian Hongshan, Lu Huizhao and Wang Bingnan, Director General and Deputy Directors Generals of the BDS, and senior executives from various departments and affiliated institutions, including the Housing and Personnel Service Corporations, were present at the event to pay respect to the voluntary blood donors. Mr. Qian made detailed inquiries about the preparations made for the event and talked cordially with the employees who were about to make the contribution, expressing his appreciation for their praiseworthy deed and telling them to relax during the drawing process and take a good rest afterwards for quick recovery.

120 staff members registered for blood donation this year and 59 of them passed the pre-drawing test and succeeded in fulfilling their moral obligations. Qian Bin from the Personnel Service Corporation, in particular, made spontaneous request to have 400 ml. of his blood drawn, showcasing selflessness with the good deed. To mark the 50thanniversary of the passing away of Lei Feng, the model soldier, we would like to take this opportunity to extend our appreciation and hearty thanks for the compassion and selfless contribution of the 59 employees who donated blood this year. At the same time, our gratitude also goes to all the BDS departments that provided strong support in organizing this event. The last but not the least, we would like to thank the Logistics Center for their tremendous cooperation.
