Hu Hong holds a BA in Linguistics and Literature of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, Central China Normal University, as well as a MA in Language and Applied Linguistics of Beijing Normal University. He is engaged in teaching Chinese as a foreign language and teaching research for more than 40 years.

In addition to senior one-on-one Chinese courses tailor made for ambassadors and senior diplomats, Hu Hong also offers special courses and lectures on traditional Chinese culture, ancient Chinese thoughts, China’s reality and policies to foreign embassies in China, international organizations, foreign companies and cultural associations.


 

He is an expert at designing cultural courses and lectures based on the needs of clients. While dabbling in Chinese literature, history and philosophy, he preoccupies himself with the history of Chinese thoughts and social psychology. His special cultural training courses integrate comparisons between China and foreign countries, evolution of social phenomena and cultural elements, as well as reality in the modern world.

Hu Hong compiled and published textbooks including Practical Chinese for Official Functions, two volumes of Learning Chinese Through Stories, and Chinese Idioms and Colloquialisms Without Tears. In partnership with the U.S. Embassy, he led his team in completing textbook series Chinese for Foreign Affairs Work. Moreover, he successfully applied for and presided over the compilation of A Reader on the Chinese Way, a project commissioned by Center for Language Education and Cooperation under the Ministry of Education.


 

In his career, Hu Hong was assigned by LCC to set up a Chinese school in Medan Indonesia and work in his capacity as the headmaster and teacher. He was also assigned by Chinese Foreign Ministry to Permanent Mission of the PRC to the United Nations in New York to work as a Chinese teacher at United Nations International School.
