Nestled on a gentle slope of a mountain about 90 kilometers west of downtown Beijing, Cuandixia has a history of over 400 years.
With its feng shui-guided and well-arranged old houses and alleys, the village looks like a gigantic gold ingot as it is seen from afar.
A family surnamed Han has been here for generations, and villagers are still living in most of the houses. Since its courtyard houses left from the Ming and Qing dynasties are living fossils of residential architecture, Cuandixia has become the right place to learn about the features of northern residential architecture and experience the northern country life.
Cuandixia has become a preferred choice to shoot quite a number of movies and TV series.
