• Since October 1, 2008, the Beijing Customs Office, depending on the alcohol content of alcoholic products, redefined the quantative limits of duty-free alcohol products that diplomatic personnel in foreign embassies are eligible to purchase:

Spirits: If the alcohol content exceeds 22 degrees, the purchased amount declared in the customs declaration form submitted, at one time or more times, by the diplomatic personnel of the embassies in China cannot exceed 100 bottles per year per person. After submission of the form, the diplomats in Beijing can buy the specified amount of spirits in the Duty Free Shop.

Table wines: If the alcohol content is between 12 to 22 degrees (inclusive), the amount declared in the customs declaration form submitted, at one time or more times, by the diplomatic personnel of the embassies in China cannot exceed 300 bottles per year per person. After submission of the form, the diplomats in Beijing can buy the wines in the Duty Free Shop.

Low-grade alcohols: If the alcohol content is below 12 degrees with the unit price not exceeding USD 300, and the total value of the wine purchased each time does not exceed USD 500, diplomats will not need to fill out the customs declaration form and can purchase the wine directly without any quantative limits from the Duty Free Shop for Diplomatic Missions by using the diplomatic identity card of the diplomatic corps issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
