On June 9, 2025, Director General Zhou Xisong met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Italy to China, H.E. Mr. Massimo Ambrosetti and his group. The two sides exchanged views on the expansion project for the visa office of the Italian Embassy in Beijing.

Zhou Xisong expressed his welcome to the ambassador's visit and commended the efforts and achievements made by the ambassador in promoting bilateral relations. He emphasized that as the bilateral relations has been continuously deepen and deepen, he fully understood the need for expanding the visa office of the Italian Embassy. It is the responsibility for the Beijing Service Bureau for Diplomatic Missions(BDS) to serve the diplomatic missions in China well. BDS would provide full support to the embassy and coordinate with all the relevant parties to push the solution of problems, it is benefit to the people of the two nations.

Massimo Ambrosetti expressed gratitude for the long-term support of BDS and pointed out that the Italian government attaches great importance to this expansion project. The professional team from the Polytechnic University of Turin has been invited to participate in the engineering design, aiming to better showcase Italy's image in China with an environmental and modern design concept. He stated that the Italian side will carry out the construction project of the visa office in accordance with Chinese laws and regulations to better serve the development of Italy-China relations.

Deputy Director General of BDS Gao Yu and Chen Li,  Minister  of the Italian Embassy Cristina Carenza attended the meeting.
