Through the liaison of the Foreign
Affairs Office of the Mentougou District, the BDS entered into a partnership of
“Spiritual Civilization Construction” with the Sanjiadian Primary School of
Mentougou District in late 2012. Located in the urban-rural fringe area, the
Sanjiadian Primary School is comprised mainly of children of migrant workers’
families from other parts of the country living in the neighborhood.
To
play a better part in the “Spiritual Civilization Construction” and implement
the Rural-Urban Spiritual Civilization Construction Partnership Program initiated
by the Central Party Committee and Central Government and under the auspices and
guidance of the BDS Party Committee, the BDS Youth League Committee, with help
from the young volunteers’ team, has launched a series of joint public benefit events
of book donation, culture sharing, English language tutoring, artistic performance,
and theme forums which are well received by the school faculty and children and
have achieved satisfactory results.
Taking
advantage of the young volunteers’ professional knowhow and expertise, the BDS
team made thoughtful, flexible and creative preparations for the events, which
were expected to help push forward the Partnership-building agenda through providing
assistance to the children by arousing their interest in learning and study,
promoting the spirit of “Mutual Help, Loving Care and Dedication "and boosting
the youth’s awareness of civic spirit and social responsibility.
Following
the theme forum, entitled "Russia - Our Neighbor" , hosted in March
and the "A Better Childhood and A Better Future for Children" event,
hosted at the advent of the International Children’s Day, the BDS Youth League
Committee again organized a young volunteers’ team to visit the Sanjiadian
Primary School to organize another theme forum to mark the "Happy
Christmas with A Thanksgiving Heart" on 12 December.
During
the forum, the 3 speakers shared Christmas celebrating experiences with the
children with captivating narratives, plenty of pictures, intriguing anecdotes,
in-class interactive responses and festive gifts, thereby arousing strong
interest and exceptionally animated participation of the children.
Towards
the end of the visit, the school authorities presented a silk banner and
expressed the gratitude to the BDS. The school looked forward to making greater
achievements in the partnership building through more exchanges and cooperation
in the upcoming year. The Youth League Committee, on behalf of the BDS, also
presented school kits to 10 children from underprivileged families and
encouraged them to work hard and make greater achievements.
