On May 26, 2015, co-sponsored by the municipal governmentof Brussels Belgium and Belgium Spiral Social and Cultural Association, Mr. YuQilong and Ms. Yu Danqing’s Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition was grandly heldin the City Hall of Evere.

Ms Dominique Clajot, wife of the vice mayor of Brusselschaired the opening ceremony, announcing that Prof. Yu Qilong was honored thetitle of Evere Honorary Citizen. Mr. XiangShihai, cultural counselor of Chinese Embassy to Belgium gave a speech. Ms.Marie Claire Herent, chairwoman of Belgium Spiral Social and Cultural Association also gave her cordialspeech. Chinese artist Yu Danqing expressed her thanks. On June 6, Ms. YuDanqing held an open class in the exhibition hall, teaching Chinese calligraphyand painting. The exhibition ended on June 17. Many fans of Chinese calligraphyand painting came to the exhibition, showing their appreciation and collectingsome of the works. The government of Brussels bought one piece of painting work– Panda, which is regarded as a symbol of the friendly culture exchange betweenChina and Belgium. 

Prof. Yu Qilong is a retired teacher of Beijing Languageand Cultural Center for Diplomatic Missions (LCC). He not only engaged inteaching Chinese as a foreign language for a long time, he is also a well-knownartistin the field of Chinese calligraphy and painting.Ms.Yu Danqing, the niece of Mr. Yu, s also teaching calligraphy and painting in LCC.Their profound artistic attainments and excellent teaching methods are always appreciated by foreign students from around the world.
