At the invitation of Beijing Language and Cultural Centerfor Diplomatic Missions (LCC), Mr. Yves Martel, Principal of Primary School of Lycée Francais International de Pékin and Ms. Isabel who is in charge of Mandarin teaching gave a lecture on Mandarin teaching of their school to LCC teachers.
Principal Yves Martel said in his speech that Lycée Francais International de Pékin attached great importance to Mandarin teaching, which is implemented in preschool, primary school, middle school and high school. Children start to learn Mandarin when they are around 3 years old. It is believed that Mandarin study helps students to learn French better. Lycée Francais International de Pékin is the first school that opens Chinese-French bilingual class in the French education system.
Ms. Isabel emphasized on the introduction of the Mandarin course and culture course that are opened in their primary school. She also demonstrated lots of Mandarin teaching methods and interactive games designed for children with the aim of improving students’ listening and speaking ability. LCC teachers and Ms. Isabel had a warm discussion on some difficult and hotpoint issues in language teaching for children.
Prior to the lecture, Principal Yves Martel and Ms. Isabel had a meeting with Mr. Mei Xiaohan, Director of LCC. They exchanged views on several issues such as selecting LCC teachers to teach Mandarin in Lycée Francais International de Pékin as well as strengthening cooperation on HSK test service in the future.
