On 19 October 2013, Vice -President Józef Arno Wlodarski of Gdańsk University (GU) visited Beijing Language and Cultural Center for Diplomatic Missions (LCC), and had a meeting with Director Mei Xiaohan of LCC. Vice -President Józef Arno Wlodarski expressed his thanks to Prof. Wu Lan of LCC, an elite scholar in Polish and Mandarin study, for her support and guidance for the establishment of the Sinology Department of GU in Poland. Then, he introduced the great event of the founding ceremony of the Sinology Department of GU on 4 October 2013. Finally, LCC and GU signed an agreement on cooperation in the fileds of summer camp, short-term study tour in LCC, teaching materials compilation, faculty training, etc.

In addtion, as a supporting project the Sinology Department of GU, No. 9 Middle School of Gdańsk Poland has started Chinese course as the pioneer in Polish public school this autumn.

All these events are aimed at enhancing the cultural exchange between China and Poland.
