On 26thMarch, 2013, the Polish Embassy in Beijingheld a publishing ceremony forThe Captive Mindwhich was co-translated by Professor Wu Lan of Beijing Language and Cultural Centerfor Diplomatic Missions(LCC) and Professor Yi Lijun of Beijing Foreign Studies University. The Polish Ambassador to China, Prof. Wu Lan, Prof. Yi Lijun, representative of Guangxi Normal University Press, reporters from different media and representatives of students attended the publishing ceremony.

The Captive Mindis the most valuable literary prose inPoland. It was written by Czeslaw Milosz, a well-known Polish writer, poet and translator, who won Nobel Prize in Literature in 1980. He tried to explain how the intellectual group from the Central and Eastern European countries struggled against the ideological shackles of Stalinism.

At the publishing ceremony, Mr. Tadeusz Chomicki, the Polish Ambassador toChina, extended his gratitude for the hard work of two translators, and he said that the Polish Embassy would continue to give support to the dissemination of Polish culture in the future. Prof. Wu Lan gave her sincere thanks to the Polish Embassy inBeijingfor their long-lasting support and kind help. She said that although Polish was not a major international language, the Polish culture had profound influence throughout the world and brought up many winners of Nobel Prize in Literature. It is her unshirkable duty to continue to promote the cultural exchange betweenChinaandPoland.
