This position is open to external applicants residing in China and employees occupying an indeterminate or term position in China Missions who meet all of the essential qualifications and whose applications are received by the closing date.

Short-listed candidates should be able to participate in tests and/or interviews in Beijing at own expense. The successful candidate will be required to relocate to Beijing at own expense.

Summary of duties:

Under the general supervision of the Building Systems & Operations Superintendent, Building Works Advisor and the direct supervision of the Production Shop Foreman, the incumbent performs a variety of skilled carpentry work on buildings and structures; fabricates a variety of items from wood and other materials within a carpenter shop; constructs concrete forms; assists in other facility building projects; and performs other duties as directed.

Mandatory requirements:

Education:

·         An appropriate education in carpenter trade or an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience with building construction/maintenance of the carpenter trade

Language:

·         Proficiency in Mandarin (reading, writing and speaking)

Experience:

·         A minimum of 3 years’ experience in general construction and maintenance works applicable to buildings as carpenter trade

Knowledge:

·         Knowledge of construction and maintenance hand tools and general shop power tools

·         Knowledge of construction work sites safety course(s) or equivalent

·         Knowledge of blue print reading

Abilities/skills:
