Summary:

The U.S. Consulate Wuhan is seeking an eligible and qualified applicant for the position of Computer Operator.

Work Schedule:                          Full Time (40 hours per week)

Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Duties:

The jobholder reports to the Information Management Assistant (IMA) and is reviewed by the Information System Officer. This position provides desktop assistance, system application training and maintains Post’s cellular and BlackBerry device inventory and liaises with mobile carriers for service. The jobholder assists with the installation, inventory, and disposal of computers and accessories. Acts as the public telephone, cable, satellite, and internet service providers (ISPs) and provides administrative support to the Din computers, printers and internet equipment. Serves as the E2 administrator and provides administration, user support and training for SharePoint. This position backs up the mailroom clerk and the IMA.

 

Qualifications and Evaluations

 

Education:

Completion of College studies is required.

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of two (2) years of experience in IT management is required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:

The jobholder must have good knowledge of the capabilities and limitations of computer equipment and software, elementary fact-finding techniques, and basic systems analysis and design techniques. Must have capabilities of hardware and software analysis to meet support requirements.

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE:

Level III (Good Working Knowledge) speaking/reading/writing in English is required.

Level III (Good Working Knowledge) speaking/reading/writing in Mandarin Chinese is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Very strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills. Excellent customer service. Considerable tact and diplomacy in dealing with American and Chinese customers and with outside contacts. Excellent analytical skills. Ability to plan and work independently to respond to customer needs and inquiries. Ability to research and solve complex technical problems in English and Chinese and explain the solutions clearly in both languages. Ability to translate technical documents from Chinese to English. Proficiency with Microsoft applications including Outlook, Excel, Word, and database software. Ability to learn other software applications as needed.

Qualifications:
