The U.S. Mission in Beijing is seeking an eligible and qualified applicant for the position of Scientific Affairs Specialist.

Duties: |
The Scientific Affairs Specialist provides highly complex and specialized analysis and advice on all topics in his/her portfolio, in English, to U.S. government officials, including State Department and other agency officers based at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, to U.S. government visitors to Beijing, and to U.S. government interlocutors based in the United States. The Scientific Affairs Specialist also promotes U.S. positions on his/her portfolio issues with Chinese counterparts; carries out research and writes analytical reports; and liaises with Chinese ministries, academics, non-governmental organizations, businesses, and other interlocutors as necessary, in person, by phone and by e-mail, in English and Chinese, to accomplish his/her duties.
