Jianwai Party Branch visits Prince Gong’s Mansion

On the occasion of the 96^th anniversary of founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the 90^th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and the 80^th anniversary of the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese Invasion War, 18 CPC members from the Jianwai Party Branch went on a tour at the Prince Gong’s Mansion for discipline education on 7 July 2017 and had satisfactory results in this in-depth learning.

Braving the scorching summer sun, the visitors, with respect and modesty, learned a lesson in corruption prevention through the case of this late Qing Dynasty official who used bribery and embezzled money to construct a house that was once considered even more lavish than the Forbidden City, with a double-wall to hoard the stolen gold. The compound has since become a Party discipline education center, warning against official corruption, greed, rule-breaking, transgression and excesses. 

The stupefying figures of the stashed wealth and endless greed are deemed as a message of caution for our time. To be clean and honest, one should be regarded as wealthy, when he or she is more concerned with the public wellbeing, even though he or she might be living a life of material greed. Despite a corrupt official’s self-seeking and profiteering might provided him or her a luxurious lifestyle, he or she is condemned as spiritually impoverished. As a CPC member, one must firmly remember the oath he or she took when joining the Party and remain true to the Party disciplines and faith. They should make ceaseless endeavors to achieve the Party’s objective.

As the tour drew to a close, the participating Party members pledged that they would establish a right perspective for self-interest and stay clear from corruption, with respect for integrity and honesty, to make themselves qualified CPC members and fulfill their obligations.
